💄ESSENCE 💄 Velvet Stick Matte Lip Colour {beauty review}

Hi All

Hope you all had a great weekend. It was cold in Cape Town and i had the rare weekend off from work so i took advantage of the cold weather and stayed indoors. Spent time with my family, caught up on series and actually rested for a change. What did you get up to?

I have already done a review on the glossy sticks from Essence and took my time with these Matte Sticks, as i’m not a great fan of matte lip colour as i feel a lot of brands hit and miss when it comes to matte due to drying on my lips as i have very sensitive lips that tend to crack and peel easily.

I wanted to give these velvet sticks a fair chance and surprisingly, they didn’t disappoint.

WHAT THEY SAY    Go Matt! The velvet sticks offer silky-matt results. the soft texture with a high coverage comes in a practical mini-format – and thanks to the large tip, application is quick and easy. they are available in delicate as well as intense colours.

WHAT I SAY   Lets talk packaging first. These velvet sticks come in a crayon like pencil. The colour of the packaging is just about identical to the actual shade which gives you a great indication of what colour you are buying.

I like their packaging, simple yet beautiful the only thing I’m not a fan of is that I’m OCD when it comes to stickers on my products so i tend to ripe them off as soon as they go into my makeup organizer and with these, the name of each shade is on the sticker and not on the actual pencil. These are not twist up which i would have preferred but need sharpening.

Now lets talk colour, quality and staying power.They come in 5 different shades. The pigmentation is rich and i feel its not 100% matte, its more of a velvetly matte feel which i love. It lasts about 2-3 hours with no eating or drinking which i would expect from a drugstore brand. The colour is very creamy and overall i am very happy.
