Hi Everyone
Hope you all having a great week so far. Today i’ll be sharing with you all, the 2 Makeup Sponges i am completely obsessed with!!!
I have for years used the Ubu and the single Cala Makeup Blending sponges, the ones that are Pear Shaped, until a couple months ago I spotted the Cala Urban Studio Flawless Blend Duo Make-Up Blending Sponges at Dis-Chem. These 2 sponges have become my holy grail products. I bought a backup pack and thinking of getting a couple more incase they get discontinued
ABOUT Blend and apply makeup or skincare products with precision blending sponge. The pointed end is perfect for the delicate areas around the eyes, nose and mouth while the larger end evenly distributes products for flawless even coverage. Latex free, allergy free.
SHAPE This is the only sponge I’ve used that isn’t the pear shaped but instead tear-dropped shaped like the original beauty blender. The bottom rounded end is perfect for basic coverage all over your face and the top pointed end is perfect for getting to the hard to reach places like the nose area and under your eyes.
SIZE Once damped it increases an extra 1/2 its original size.
TEXTURE This is the softest sponge I’ve used when its damp, which makes for easy application
ABSORPTION Once dampened and used the sponge absorbs a small amount of foundation on application but nothing to stress over.
APPLICATION Once the sponge is dampened, and I’ve applied my foundation to my skin with either my fingers or my concealer brush, depending on the consistency of the foundation, i then go to town bouncing the sponge all over my face with the bottom rounded end of the sponge. There is nothing more satisfying seeing the sponge to work creating an air brushed look with minimal effort. I then use the pointed end under my eyes and on the side of my nose.
CLEANING My holy grail product for cleaning my sponges is the Pink Cosmetics “Solid Brush and Sponge Cleaner” Nothing has ever cleaned my brushes or sponges so easily and quickly as the solid cleaner. This sponge takes a little bit longer to clean that its smaller counterpart but one cleaned there is no residue left behind and it looks brand new
SHAPE I have never in my life used this shape sponge. Yes I’ve used a pear shaped but this is like someone has stretched the pear, more like a peanut shaped (while in the shell). I don’t really used the bottom rounded end but you can use it to apply for example cream or liquid highlighter to your cheek bones. I mostly use it the pointed end for my concealer under my eyes.
SIZE Once damped it increases to almost double its original size.
TEXTURE This little sponge gets so soft once when its dampened, which again, makes for easy application
ABSORPTION Once dampened and used the sponge absorbs a small amount of concealer on application but nothing to stress over, very much like main sponge. I think it actually absorbs less product.
APPLICATION Once the sponge is dampened, and I’ve applied my concealer to under my eyes, cheek bones, nose, top of my lip and chin. I then use the top pointed end and blend. This sponge is so great, blends easily with minimal effort like its counterpart and absorbs very little product. It blends like a dream under my eyes covering my dark circles.
CLEANING My holy grail product for cleaning my sponges is the Pink Cosmetics “Solid Brush and Sponge Cleaner” Nothing has ever cleaned my brushes or sponges so easily and quickly as the solid cleaner. This sponge takes like 30-60 seconds to clean and again no residue left behind and it looks brand new
This duo pack retails for R 99.95 for both sponges which is a steal and available from Dis-Chem stores
